Because SugarMegs loads entire sets and complete concerts into one single file! Compressed to a tiny 40 kbs., it doesn't leave much for fidelity. www.deadshow.org uses a 64 kbs. compression ratio.

Gapless playback is possible, once you install WINAMP_full. GDLive offers a Dead Amp plugin for this purpose. I prefer to keep thre "gapless" dll from the WinAmp plugins folder, and uninstall the whole thing.

Sounds complicated; but then you can then re-install WINAMP_lite without all of the unneeded extra junk. Then copy the saved "gapless" dll into the WINAMP plugins folder.

The (Wave, MP-3, OGG vorbis, shn, and flac) dlls can be put into a zip file. Make your own WINAMP plugin pack for later use.

WINAMP will play most everything that we use here. It works quite well in streaming David Gans, KPFA, KLCC and other on-line stations...
